I-5 Spill Response and Freeway Incident Cleanup

The I-5 is the spine of the state. Through Southern California it runs from the Grapevine down past Santa Clarita and through Los Angeles, then along the Orange County corridor and into San Diego County toward the border, carrying more freight than any other route in the region.

Call (909) 747-0109 Request Service

Volume alone makes the 5 a constant source of incidents, but the character changes by segment. The northern approach through Santa Clarita and the Grapevine brings grade and weather. The Los Angeles core brings density, tight interchanges, and very little room to work. The Orange County stretch through Santa Ana, Irvine, and San Clemente runs close to sensitive coastal drainage. The San Diego County segment carries heavy cross-border freight.

What does not change is the requirement: contain the release before it reaches a storm drain, recover the product and any impacted surface or soil, support the towing operator so the vehicle can be moved safely, and dispose of everything through a manifested chain to an approved facility.

SpillSafe responds along the corridor 24 hours a day, coordinating with CHP, fire, and recovery operators to reopen lanes and close out the incident properly.
