From the Santa Monica end through downtown Los Angeles, El Monte, Pomona, Ontario, Fontana, Rialto, San Bernardino, and Redlands, the 10 carries a constant mix of commuter traffic and heavy freight moving between the ports and the warehouse corridor. That combination produces exactly the incidents we handle daily: diesel saddle tanks ruptured in collisions, cargo spilled across lanes, hydraulic and coolant releases after rollovers, and fuel tracking toward the storm drains that line the shoulder.

East of Redlands the freeway begins the long climb through Yucaipa, Calimesa, Beaumont, and Banning toward the pass. Grade matters here. Loaded trucks work hard going up and their brakes work hard coming down, and both conditions produce breakdowns, fires, and rollovers well away from the nearest yard. Response time on that stretch is a genuine problem for contractors based on the coast. It is not a problem for us.
