I-15 Spill Response and Freeway Incident Cleanup

The I-15 runs from the Riverside County line north through the Inland Empire, over the Cajon Pass, and out into the High Desert toward Victorville and Barstow. It is one of the most demanding truck corridors in the state, and SpillSafe Environmental responds to it around the clock.

The Cajon Pass is the defining feature of this corridor. Heavy trucks climb roughly three thousand feet out of the valley and then descend a sustained grade on the other side. Brake failures, overheated equipment, fires, and rollovers concentrate on that stretch in a way they do not on flat freeway. When a loaded tanker or a fuel-carrying rig goes over in the pass, the response has to be fast and it has to be equipped for difficult, sloped, limited-access terrain.

South of the pass the 15 threads through Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Eastvale, Norco, Corona, and on toward Temecula, passing some of the densest warehouse and distribution development anywhere in the country. Incidents here are less about grade and more about volume: rear-end collisions at speed, cargo releases, and fuel spills in and around the freight yards that feed the freeway.

Our Mentone yard sits close to the base of the pass on the I-10 side, so crews reach both the pass and the Ontario and Fontana stretch quickly. We work alongside CHP, county fire, and towing operators to contain the release, tap and transfer fuel from compromised tanks where needed, recover impacted material, and clear the scene for reopening.
